House Rules

I follow Roberts Rules of Poker when not otherwise indicated. Specific rules which I've modified or added are below. Most of these rules are common sense and courtesies, some are just better suited to our environment.

1	Please watch the cursing. This is an adult game, so some cursing is to be expected, but there is no need to hurl expletives that would make a sailor blush.
2	Please respect other players. We're not all professionals like you, and sometimes we make bad plays (like you)
3	No discussing the current hand while there is still action (until the pot is awarded.) This includes such actions as commenting on possible hand combos ("who's got the clubs?") encouraging other players' actions ("You have to call that..") or any non-verbal actions which would indicated cards you may have folded which would then no longer be in play (groaning on an all-heart flop, etc.)
4	When balancing tables, a player will move from the most populated table to the least. We use the simplest method of moving the pending big blind player, who will assume the worst position at the new table, which is the position closest to the big blind.
5	We use the 'Dead Button' rule to determine button position when a player in or expecting the blinds is eliminated. This causes the small blind or the button to be 'dead' at times but ensures that big blinds are not skipped and that no one posts multiple big blinds.
6	Smoking is not permitted at the tables or in the house. Please use an appropriate receptacle for your butts if you choose to step outside and smoke. This does not include my yard, driveway, street, or neighbors yards.
7	Please be in your seat and ready when action is to you. Your hand will be folded if you are not IN YOUR SEAT when the second card is DEALT to you. A player not at the table is not entitled to a pot.
8	I am always open to suggestions about my game, blind structures, payouts, rules, etc. However, I won't change them during the game so don't gripe about them. Send me an e-mail or talk to me about it after the game.
9	Please respect my home. My wife and I (the wife especially) work very hard to keep the house nice for ourselves and our guests. Please do your part and throw away your trash and try not to miss when you use the restroom.

Hand Rankings

Royal Flush A straight flush to the ace.
Straight Flush 5 cards in sequence and of the same suit.
4 of a Kind 4 cards of the same rank.
Full House A 3 of a kind, plus a pair.
Flush 5 cards of the same suit. Flushes are ranked according to the highest cards.
Straight 5 cards of any suit, in sequence.
3 of a Kind 3 cards of the same rank. Also called a 'set' or 'trips'
2 Pair 2 separate pairs.
Pair 2 cards of the same rank.
High Card Simply the highest card in your hand.
